Wheelchair Assistance

We wish to make your travel experience as comfortable as possible. And we have special facilities for our guests with special needs.
For guests with reduced mobility, we offer the following assistance:

  • Wheelchairs at the airport: Kingfisher Airlines can arrange for wheelchair transport from check-in to the boarding gate or from the aircraft to the arrivals hall at your destination. In order that we can service your needs as effectively as possible, please let us know at the time of booking or otherwise at least 48 hours in advance of travel if you desire this service. Where you do not inform us in advance, we will nevertheless use reasonable efforts to accommodate your needs.
  • Travelling with your own wheelchair: We are able to carry your wheelchair or mobility equipment on the flight. However, there are some restrictions on size and weight that you should discuss with your booking agent at the time of booking. If space is available, we will store collapsible wheelchairs and mobility aids in the aircraft cabin. If we cannot do this, they will be carried in the hold. All wheelchairs and mobility equipment are carried free of charge and do not count against the standard baggage allowance.
    If you have a dry battery cell powered wheelchair, please disconnect the terminals and insulate them for carriage in aircraft cargo holds.
    Kingfisher Airlines does not allow wet battery cell powered wheelchairs as the wetbattery cell powered wheel chairs may cause safety related issues.
  • If there is any other special need with which you require assistance, please don't hesitate to ask when you book your flight with Kingfisher Airlines. We will do everything we can to accommodate your needs.

Medical and Stretcher Assistance

Health On Board :

During flight, the cabin pressure onboard the aircraft is equivalent to that found at an altitude of approximately 5000-8000 feet. Due to this, the aircraft cabin has a unique environment which may, in certain cases, lead to certain physiological problems.

There is approximately 25-30% expansion of air inside the body at these cabin pressures. Air at conventional cabin pressures also has less partial pressure of oxygen than the air at ground level. This means that the air inside the cabin, when the aircraft is cruising, is mildly hypoxic. Healthy adults and children tolerate this environment very well. On the other hand, very elderly, neonates, or persons suffering from certain medical conditions may not be able to tolerate it very well. Therefore, such guests will need careful evaluation regarding fitness to fly because of mild stress imposed on the heart, lungs and subsequent oxygenation of blood.

Guests suffering from medical / surgical conditions or having recently undergone surgical procedures require clearance to fly, from the Kingfisher Airlines Company doctor.

Medical Clearance depends on the following factors:

Type / severity of illness;
Duration since last surgery / illness;
Present vital medical parameters;
Likely effect of flight environment on medical condition;
Safety implications on flight, flight crew and other guests;
Requirement of escort / type of escort;
Requirement of specialized equipments and their safety / security implications;
"Fit to fly" certificate from treating physician/surgeon. (Please note this certificate will be accepted as advice only. The final decision will be that of the Kingfisher Airlines Company doctor).
